Johann Fasching

Johann Fasching (born July 18, 1847 in Jetzles , † May 2, 1888 in St. Pölten ) was an Austrian theologian and - under the pseudonym Johann B. Fastenau - writer.

life and work

1853-1859 he attended the elementary school in Vitis and then 1859-1867 the high school in Krems . He then studied theology in St. Pölten and was ordained a priest in 1871. 1871–1876 he worked as a cooperator in Gars am Kamp . He then became cathedral curate at the cathedral church in St. Pölten and in 1878 chaplain at the Collegio Teutonico di Santa Maria dell'Anima in Rome , where he also obtained his doctorate in canon law . In 1880 he returned to St. Pölten, was episcopal secretary from 1881 to 1883 and from 1883 professor for pastoral theology at the Philosophical-Theological University of St. Pölten .

In addition to theological treatises, he also wrote works of fiction that were committed to the Catholic moral teaching of his time.
