history

Population development

The place name Jetzles is a genetic derivation from the personal name Uotzo ("little Ulrich"). The first written mention of the name comes from the year 1398, when "Hanns Strein von Swartzenaw sold the tithe to Mathesen the Probst von der Yetzeins". In the 16th century the place consisted of 14 houses, which were composed of 10 fiefs and four half-fiefs. However, these houses were located north of today's village, with the Jetzleshof in the south belonging to the Schwarzenau lordship. The Jetzleshof exercised village authority over the village and also housed the regional court . In 1636 half of the village was deserted, in 1790 the Jetzleshof was divided into four half-lunches (nos. 17, 21, 23 and 26), ten quarter-tenings (nos. 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 27, 29, 30, 33 and 36) as well as three small houses (No. 25, 35 and 39) and the community shepherd's house (No. 28). Despite the division, a distinction was still made between the Jetzles-Hof and the Jetzles-Dorf, with the village being made up of four fiefs (No. 2 and 10 to 13), ten half-fiefs (No. 1, 3 to 8, 37, 38 and 42) and six small houses (nos. 14, 15, 31, 32, 34 and 41). Jetzles-Dorf also had a parish hall with house number 9, and in 1836 a common parish hall with house number 40 was built for both parts of the community. The cadastral community of Jetzleser Wald also belonged to Jetzles, where a "Schinderhaus" was maintained.

In the political field, the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) dominates the election results, analogous to the municipal level. In the municipal elections in 2010 , the ÖVP in the Jetzle district achieved 76% (municipality result: 70%) and the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) 24% (municipality result: 30%). In 2005 the ÖVP had reached 79%.

Buildings

The place Jetzles is an original line village, which developed into the Angerdorf. The village chapel was built in 1824 and dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. In 1906 a renovation took place. The chapel is equipped with a baroque carved figure of St. Mary with the child from around 1800 and a carved figure of St. Florian , which was created at the beginning of the 16th century and later reworked in baroque style.
