history

Population development

The place name Schacherdorf is derived from "Schachen", a fore seam of a forest. Originally, areas east and south of Schacherdorf were probably settled in the High Middle Ages. The places known as Mühlhausen and Edelbuch soon became deserted. The area in which Schacherdorf extends today belonged to the Schwarzenau lordship and was called Schacherfeld. This is where the grounds of the Jetzleshof dairy once lay, on which the Schwarzenau lordship began building small houses in 1790. From 1797 to 1801 the settlement was expanded to include the barren rulership grounds. In addition to the small houses (three and four-sided courtyards or Söllnerhöfe), the properties comprised around two yokes of Grund. Between 1800 and 1806 the place consisted of ten houses, in 1831 and 1837 two more houses were built. Before the abolition of manorial rule, only house no. 3 was a quarter marriage, all other buildings were small houses. In 1850 the place fell to the newly formed municipality of Vitis together with Schoberdorf , Kaltenbach and Gadorf .

As a result, the size of the place hardly changed, until 1951 the place had only grown by one house to 13 houses. Only then did the village grow a little stronger, so that the place housed 20 houses in 2000. At the same time, however, the population figures hardly changed.

Buildings

The local chapel of the village of Schacherdorf is consecrated to Saint Joseph and was built and consecrated in 1913 as a simple, pocket-jointed building with a retracted apse and gable tower. The gable tower is crowned by a pointed gable helmet and has a niche figure of St. Florian, the chapel itself has arched windows and a framed portal. Inside, the ceiling was designed as a basket-arched barrel vault, there are also statues of St. Barbara, St. Mary and St. Joseph from the 19th century.

In addition to the local chapel in Schacherdorf there is also a path chapel in the Schacherwald, which was built by master blacksmith Anderl from Vitis for the rescue in the event of a train accident (1875). The path chapel has a groin vault and a pyramid roof. Another gabled path chapel from the 19th century lies on a path leading to Vitis. It was consecrated to Saints Rochus and Florian and shows the mercy seat on a baroque picture, as well as Saints Rochus and Florian about Vitis. The chapel was built to commemorate the Vitis fires. To the west of the village there is also a gabled niche shrine from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
