history

Population development

The place name Schoberdorf is derived from the drained Schoberteich, where the small house settlement was built. The pond name comes from the former owner of the nearby bell mill Paul Schober. The place itself was founded around 1800, whereby in 1799 the former manorial properties were sold and in 1801 taxes from Schoberdorf were recorded for the first time. Schoberdorf consisted of only nine houses in 1801, after an expansion from 1831 the number of houses had increased to 19 in 1848. Before the abolition of the manorial rule, the Schwarzenau rule held the land, village and regional court authority, in 1850 the place fell to the newly formed municipality of Vitis together with Schacherdorf , Kaltenbach and Gadorf . Schoberdorf grew to 19 houses with 109 inhabitants by 1900, and by 1951 the number of houses increased to 24. While the number of inhabitants in 1951 had remained fairly stable compared to 1900, the number of inhabitants fell to 65 by 2000. At that time, Schoberdorf consisted of 32 houses.
