Johann Friedrich Rhode

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Friedrich Rhode († after 1769 ) was a German organ builder in Danzig .

Life

The name indicates an origin of the family from Thuringia. From 1726 to 1746 Johann Friedrich Rhode was a teacher and organist in Praust near Danzig. It was probably the same. His son Gottfried Emanuel Rhode succeeded in these offices.

Johann Friedrich Rhode was probably a student of Andreas Hildebrandt in Danzig, which is indicated by a similar construction of the organs. In 1749 he was a journeyman with Christoph Heinrich Obuch . He then settled in Danzig and built pianos and organs. Two pianos by JF Rhode in Dantzig , which were available in Elbing in 1928 , and four new organs from 1760 to 1769 are known.

Gottlieb Paschke was possibly a student of Rhode.
