Johann Georg Frech
Johann Georg Frech (born January 17, 1790 in Kaltental ; † August 23, 1864 in Esslingen am Neckar ) was a German music director , composer and organist .
Life
Naughty was the son of a watchmaker and organ builder . He attended school up to the age of 13, then the grammar school in Stuttgart and took lessons in music.
In 1806 he became a teaching assistant in Degerloch , while he continued to study music in Stuttgart. In 1811 he went to Esslingen as an apprentice assistant and in 1812 became a music teacher at the newly established Esslingen teachers' college. In 1820 he was given the post of municipal music director and organist at the main church in Esslingen, where he remained until his retirement in 1860. His successor in office was Christian Fink .
Frech played an important role in the Württemberg church singing together with Konrad Kocher and Friedrich Silcher . He created together with the aforementioned "The Württemberg Choral Book" from 1828 and was co-editor of the "Württemberg Choral Book" from 1844.
Frech composed, among other things, six symphonies , many choral works, including 22 chorales for the Württemberg choral books, 67 cantatas , an opera , the oratorio “Abraham auf Moria” and some organ works.
In the Kaltental district of Stuttgart, a street was named after Frech.
