Johann Georg Honnerlag

Johann Georg Honnerlag (born April 3, 1743 in Trogen , † January 13, 1820 in Genoa ; resident in Trogen) was a Swiss textile entrepreneur from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Johann Georg Honnerlag was a son of Bartholome Honnerlag, a doctor , and Maria Elisabeth Walser. He was a brother of Bartholome Honnerlag . In 1782 he married Anna Ursula Schiess, daughter of Johannes Schiess, businessman and land major .

From 1765 to 1768 he headed the Italian branch of the textile trading company Gebrüder Schläpfer in Speicher . Then Honnerlag and his brother Sebastian Honnerlag set up a branch of the Trogner trading house Gebrüder Zellweger in Genoa under the name Zellweger & Honnerlag . After the parent company was dissolved, he continued to run the Genoese business alone until his death.

He founded the Protestant cemetery in Genoa. The Honnerlag couple formed the center of the Swiss colony there and maintained close relationships with the urban nobility .
