Johann Georg Stünkel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Georg Stünkel (born before 1799, died after 1817) was a German hut clerk who worked, among other things, for the ironworks in Altenau as well as the Obereisenhütteninspektor and, since 1814, the royal Hanover upper mountain ridge in the Harz Mountains . He was the brother of Konrad Heinrich Stünkel and, like the latter, had started as a smelter in the ironworks in Rothenhütte near Elbingerode. In 1799, Stünkel and his colleague Johann Georg Ludolf Blumhof toured numerous production sites and described the Harz iron mines and smelters as well as their means of production and processes in his works. These included the iron works in Gittelde , the Lerbacher Hütte , the Altenauer Hütte, the Königshütte near Bad Lauterberg , the Steinbrennerhütte, the Rothe Hütte or the Mandelholzer Hütte and many more in and around the Harz region. He also visited production facilities in Solling, for example the Uslarsche Hütte or the Holzmindener Hütte.
