Johann Georg Wenzel Dennerlein
Johann Georg Wenzel Dennerlein ( 1781 in Buttenheim - October 17, 1863 in Würzburg ) was a German theater actor and opera singer ( tenor ).
Life
Dennerlein, the son of a village schoolmaster, first studied philosophy at the nearby university, and without consulting anyone, he jumped on the stage on March 4, 1809.
He stayed for a year, then came to Würzburg, where he was so extremely popular that he dismissed the most advantageous applications for engagement and, with the exception of a one-year engagement in Munich, was an uninterrupted, more than half a century as a capable, highly respected and valued member of the Würzburg Theater worked.
In his younger years he represented the juvenile-comic, also the tenor buffo subject, later he switched to the serious and comic character subject. But he even gave scheming and first character roles to the greatest satisfaction. His diligence was just tireless, his versatility was admirable. His list of roles serves as proof of this, which shows the enormous number of 1500 different roles in opera, tragedy, drama, comedy and singspiel as well as in posse, vaudeville, operetta and local play.
He received numerous proofs of benevolence and honorable recognition during his entire long activity in Würzburg, and when he celebrated his 50th anniversary as an actor on March 4, 1854 (he played the "Juden Schewa"), the ovations never stopped.
A few years later he resigned from the stage entirely. He died of old age on October 17, 1863. His achievements were first and foremost characterized by lifelike, lifelike depiction and indestructible, drastic humor. The cool earth had long since covered him, and people in Würzburg still talked about old Dennerlein.
Dennerlein was married to the singer Margarethe Balling (around 1786–1816) and to the singer Margarethe Hippe (1796–1853).
