Johann Gottlieb Schmidt (painter)

Johann Gottlieb Schmidt (* 1801 in Johanngeorgenstadt ; † after 1845) was a German painter.

Schmidt, who comes from the Saxon Ore Mountains , was trained as an artist in Dresden . He stayed on study trips to Berlin and Hanover, among others . He stayed in the latter city for a long time, especially around 1842.

Schmidt became known through painted portraits, historical representations and genre pictures. By Georg Kaspar Nagler he was described as well-known artists of his time.
