Johann Gottlieb Willamov
Johann Gottlieb Willamov (born January 15, 1736 in Mohrungen , † May 6, 1777 in Saint Petersburg ) was a German poet .
Life
Willamov studied theology and mathematics in Königsberg from 1752 ; In 1758 he became professor of Greek and Latin, in 1761 professor of fine sciences at the gymnasium in Thorn . In 1767 Willamov followed a call to St. Petersburg. There he resigned the inspectorate of the Protestant schools in 1772 and then taught drawing and mathematics at a Fräuleinstift until 1776. Willamov died of a high fever the following year, following a brief jail sentence due to heavy debts.
