Jan Zeitler (born August 14, 1970 in Dortmund ) is a German administrative scientist and German local politician who has been Lord Mayor of the city ​​of Überlingen since February 2, 2017 .

biography

After graduating from the Friedrich-Schiller-Gymnasium in Ludwigsburg in 1990, Zeitler completed his military service in the German armed forces from 1990 to 1991. He then studied law and administration at the Universities of Bayreuth and Konstanz . He graduated from the University of Konstanz with a degree in administrative science in 2001. From 2002 to 2010 he worked in the Stuttgart branch of an international auditing and consulting company in the "Public Services" division.

In 2010 he was elected mayor of the city of Horb am Neckar , responsible for Department 2 (departments “Law and Order” and “Technical Operations”). In May 2014 he was elected as a district councilor to the district council of the Freudenstadt district and sent by him to the association assembly of the Northern Black Forest regional association (both offices were resigned in January 2017). In autumn 2016, Zeitler stood for election as Lord Mayor of the city of Überlingen along with three other candidates (including the previous incumbent). In the first ballot on November 6, 2016, Jan Zeitler received 44.3% of the vote and was thus well ahead of his competitors. In the second ballot on November 27, 2016, he prevailed with 50.1% of the vote. He was sworn in in the office of Lord Mayor on February 2, 2017; at the same time as taking office.

Private

Zeitler is married to Annette Stoll-Zeitler. His uncle, Werner Zeitler , was a member of the German Bundestag from 1972 to 1990 and parliamentary manager of the SPD parliamentary group from 1980 to 1983.
