from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Hanau († 1528 in Frankfurt (Oder) ) was a German book printer of the early 16th century.

Hanau's work in Frankfurt (Oder), where the Brandenburg University of Frankfurt was previously founded, is documented from 1509. In the beginning he mainly published the German humanists such as Rhegius , Aesticampianus and Hutten . Later theological, often anti-Lutheran works such as Wimpina's profile determined his profile. In 1511 Hanau published Sumarius , an anti-Judaist book.
