Johann Heinrich Lehnert

Johann Heinrich Lehnert (born August 1, 1782 in Brandenburg an der Havel , † November 15, 1848 in Falkenrehde , Osthavelland district ) was a German clergyman and writer.

Lehnert studied theology at the University of Halle and became a pastor in Falkenrehde near Potsdam in 1817 . In 1830 he became inspector of the Collegium Albertinum in Berlin and later in Königsberg .

His literary interest was folk tales and legends, which he brought out in collections from 1815. Reading books with fables, poems, songs and riddles as well as writings for religious instruction were another focus of his work. In his fairy tale wreath for children he also took fairy tales and the like. a. the Brothers Grimm and Charles Perrault , whose "cruel" scenes were toned down and some episodes were embellished by him.
