Johann Heinrich Schomburgk

Johann Heinrich Schomburgk (born April 20, 1663 in Tanne ; † January 19, 1708 in Querfurt ) was a doctor and mayor of the city of Querfurt.

Johann Heinrich Schomburgk is the progenitor of the extensive Schomburgk family . The family's former home still stands in Querfurt today.

Life

Johann Heinrich Schomburgk was born in Tanne as the son of the mining clerk and smelter Johann Heinrich Schomburgk. He went to Leipzig in 1682 and began studying medicine there. After completing his studies, he was offered a physics degree in Blankenburg / Harz in 1688 . However, Schomburgk went to Querfurt and settled there as a doctor. He is considered to be the first resident doctor in Querfurt. In 1698 Schomburgk was elected to the office of mayor.

Schomburgk was mayor of Querfurt until 1708 and died there on January 19, 1708 after a brief illness.
