Schomburgk (family)

The Schomburgk family is a widespread German family. The family tradition goes back to Count Schomburgk, who lived in the 14th century . One line fled to Denmark and re-entered German soil in the early 17th century. A direct ancestor of the founder of the tribe, John Moritz Schomburgk, was the mine director John Henry Schomburgk , who lived in Ilfeld in the southern Harz in the middle of the 17th century .
