Curt Hillig
Curt Hillig (born February 18, 1865 in Leipzig ; † April 28, 1939 there ) was a German lawyer .
Life
Curt Hillig was the eldest son of the lawyer and notary Friedrich Eduard Hillig and his wife Marie geb. Schomburgk . After graduating from the Thomas School in Leipzig , he studied law at the Universities of Heidelberg and Leipzig . In 1885 he became a member of the Corps Vandalia Heidelberg . In Leipzig he was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD. In 1893 he was admitted to the bar and was director of the Leipziger Hypothekenbank from 1895 to 1900 . From 1902 he worked as a lawyer at the Leipzig Regional Court together with Johannes Mittelstaedt until he was admitted to the Reichsgericht in 1910 . In 1914 the King of Saxony awarded him the title of “ Councilor of Justice ”.
1915 he became chairman of the supervisory board of the publishing house Bibliographisches Institut AG ; he held this office until his death. From 1917 he was also a notary in Leipzig and later chairman of the Association of Notaries in the Leipzig District Court. In 1920 he became chairman of the board of the Leipzig Lawyers' Association. From 1919 he was legal advisor to the German Publishers' Association , which awarded him honorary membership in 1936, and at the same time legal advisor to the Association of German Chemists . Curt Hillig has worked extensively in the fields of intellectual property , copyright and publishing law. He advised the German government on the London debt negotiations. From 1923 he worked together with his son-in-law Georg Greuner , who became a lawyer at the Reichsgericht in 1943 and a lawyer at the Federal Supreme Court in 1953 , and since 1927 together with his son Eduard Hillig, also a member of the Corps Vandalia Heidelberg . From 1935 Curt Hillig was an honorary member of the notary senate at the Reichsgericht. For many years he was a member of the German Association for the Protection of Industrial Property (today: German Association for Industrial Property Protection and Copyright ).
Curt Hillig was married to Alice, b. Mehlgarten, a great-granddaughter of the publisher Benedictus Gotthelf Teubner . After his death, he was buried in the wall grave of the Hillig family in the New Johannisfriedhof in Leipzig.
