John I (Châtillon)

John I of Châtillon (French Jean , * 1283 ; † 1363 ) was Grand Master of France , as well as Lord of Châtillon and Lord of Crécy .

He was the son of Walter V. von Châtillon († 1329) and Isabella von Dreux († 1300). In 1333 at the latest he received the dominions of Châtillon and Crécy, which his father had ceded to the crown around 1302.

Around 1350 he was appointed Grand Master of France ("Souverain Maître d'hôtel du Roi"), succeeding his maternal cousin, Robert III. von Dreux (* 1288; † 1351), Vice Count of Beu and Bagneux ( House of France-Dreux ).

He married Johanna von Sancerre († after 1353) daughter of Johann II , Count of Sancerre. With her he had at least one son:
