John I (Ponthieu)
Johann I († June 30, 1191 before Acre ) was a Count of Ponthieu from the House of Montgommery . He was a son of Count Guido II of Ponthieu († 1147) and his wife Ida.
Johann borrowed his coat of arms from that of the dukes of Burgundy , with whom he was related through his paternal grandmother.
Immediately after assuming the inheritance, he began a feud against Bernard III. from Saint-Válery. The war ended in 1150 under pressure from King Louis VII of France . In 1168 some of his castles were burned down by Heinrich II. Plantagenet because Johann had refused him the passage of his troops. In return, Johann supported the rebellion of the young King Heinrich against his father in 1173 .
John took part in the Third Crusade in the entourage of King Philip II , where he died during the siege of Acre .
He was married three times. His third wife was Beatrix of Saint-Pol, a daughter of Count Anselme of Saint-Pol . Your children were:
- Adela († after 1241), ∞ with Thomas de Saint-Válery
- William IV (1179 - October 4, 1221), Count of Ponthieu
- Margarethe, ∞ with Enguerrand de Picquigny, Vidame von Amiens
