Johann's traditional coat of arms is probably borrowed from that of the House of Coucy. Despite the rivalry for this house, he was also related to this house through his sister, who was with a brother of Enguerrands III. was married.

Johann II ( French : Jean de Pierrepont ; † 1251 ) was Count of Roucy and Lord of Pierrepont from the House of Pierrepont . He was a son of Robert († before 1209), Lord of Pierrepont and Eustachie, heiress of the County of Roucy († 1221).

Through his mother, Johann was a descendant of the old Count House of Roucy, but at the beginning of the 13th century, the area neighbor Enguerrand III. de Coucy , who was only loosely related by marriage to the old Count's house, pushed the mother out of her inheritance. In a document from his mother from 1211, Johann was first named as heir to Roucy. His first known act as a count dates back to 1213, when he took the feudal oath for Roucy and the vice-county of Mareuil, a league fief of his sister, to Countess Blanka von Champagne . Presumably he fought for France in the Battle of Bouvines in 1214 . During the rebellion of the barons against the regent Blanka of Castile , Johann remained loyal to the king and was able to expand his domain to include the Sissonne region in 1227 , which he gave to the rebellious Enguerrand III. de Coucy had picked up.

In 1251 he supported Karl von Anjou in his venture in the Flemish succession dispute , but was killed in the fight.

Johann was married at least twice. First with Isabella von Dreux († after 1242), daughter of Count Robert II. Von Dreux . Then with Maria von Dammartin († after 1279), daughter of Count Simon von Dammartin from the Mello family . From the last marriage the heir, Johann III. emerged.
