Mello (noble family)

Mello was a family of the northern French nobility, first documented as lords of Mello (Oise) in the second half of the 11th century .

history

It emerged through the inheritance of the County of Dammartin , and two generations later it came into the possession of the Counties of Boulogne , Counties Aumale , Counties Mortain , Counties Ponthieu and Montreuil .

It is unclear how Dreux IV. De Mello is to be classified in the family. On the one hand he is seen as the son of Dreux de Mello († 1138) and Agnès de Toucy, on the other hand as the son of Dreux III. de Mello (attested in 1136) and NN de Bulles (see above); both versions are given here.
