Lormes is a French commune with 1,288 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the arrondissement of Château-Chinon (Ville) and the canton of Corbigny .

history

The place was called Lorme a few decades ago; he led the name back to the elm (French l'orme). It was on the Roman road from Autun to Orléans , there are remains of a Roman villa , and yet its origin is dated to the 5th century. In a document from 1085 the settlement is referred to as Lorma . The first lord of Lorme is Séguin, Seguinus from Ulmo , who lived towards the end of the 11th century.
