Saint-Hilaire-Fontaine is a French municipality with 172 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the arrondissement of Château-Chinon (Ville) and the canton of Luzy (until 2015: canton of Fours ).

Saint-Hilaire-Fontaine is located about 43 kilometers east-southeast of Nevers on the Loire . Saint-Hilaire-Fontaine is surrounded by the neighboring communities Verneuil in the north and northwest, Cercy-la-Tour in the north, Montambert in the east, Cronat in the southeast, Gannay-sur-Loire in the south, Lamenay-sur-Loire in the west and southwest as well Charrin to the west and northwest.
