Alligny-en-Morvan (in the local dialect: Ailnié ) is a French municipality with 613 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the arrondissement of Château-Chinon (Ville) and the canton of Château-Chinon (until 2015: canton of Montsauche-les-Settons ). The inhabitants are called Allignycois .

Alligny-en-Morvan is located about 66 kilometers west-southwest of Dijon in the Morvan . Alligny-en-Morvan is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Champeau-en-Morvan in the north, Saint-Martin-de-la-Mer in the east and northeast, Blanot in the east and southeast, Moux-en-Morvan in the south, Gouloux in the west and Northwest and Saint-Brisson in the northwest.
