Saint-Martin-de-la-Mer is a French commune with a population of 296 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Côte-d'Or in the region Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the canton of Arnay-le-Duc and the Arrondissement of Beaune .

The addition of "de-la-Mer" to the name does not mean proximity to the sea, but comes from the French word "mare", which means 'pond'.

It borders on Champeau-en-Morvan in the north-west, Saulieu in the north, Liernais in the east, Blanot in the south and Alligny-en-Morvan in the west .
