Pernand-Vergelesses is a French commune with 244 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) and an area of 5.6 km². It is located in the northern part of the Côte de Beaune , about eight kilometers from Beaune west of the RN 74 at an altitude between 238 and 435 m above sea level and belongs to the Côte-d'Or department . Pernand-Vergelesses is well known for its wines . With Bonneau du Martray one of the most popular is wineries of Burgundy located in the community.

Viticulture in Pernand-Vergelesses
The municipality with the appellation of the same name produces around 2500 hl of red wine on its acreage, which borders the Aloxe-Corton appellation in the south . The most famous Premier Cru from this place is undoubtedly the Île des Vergelesses . Around 400 hl of first-class white wine are also pressed here. The community has shares in the Grand Cru sites Corton and Corton-Charlemagne .
Personalities
In 1925, Jacques Copeau , the founder of the théâtre du Vieux-Colombier (theater in the old dovecote) and his company settled in Pernand-Vergelesses.
