Ternant is about 58 kilometers east-southeast of Nevers in the Morvan . Ternant is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Savigny-Poil-Fol in the north, Tazilly in the east, Cressy-sur-Somme in the south and southeast, Saint-Seine in the southwest and La Nocle-Maulaix in the west.
