Susanne "Suzy" Fransisca Coromoto Camelia-Römer (birth name: Susanne Fransisca Coromoto Römer , born January 4, 1959 in Curaçao ) is a politician of the Netherlands Antilles and Curaçao, who was Prime Minister of the Netherlands Antilles in 1993 and 1998 to 1999, among others .

Life

After attending school, Suzy Camelia-Römer studied law at the University of Groningen , which she graduated in 1981. In 1992, as a member of the National People's Party ( Nationale Volkspartij ), she was appointed Minister of Justice in the government of Prime Minister Maria Liberia-Peters and held this ministerial office until 1994. After Liberia-Peters resigned on November 25, 1993, she temporarily took over the post of Prime Minister, which she held for almost a month until she was replaced by Alejandro Felippe Paula on December 28, 1993. She was also temporarily chairman of the National People's Party and held this position until her resignation in 2002.

On May 14, 1998, Suzy Camelia-Römer replaced Miguel Pourier as Prime Minister and at the same time held the post of Minister for General Affairs until she was replaced by Miguel Pourier on November 8, 1999. She then served from November 1999 to June 2002 in the Pourier cabinet as Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Economic Affairs and the National Reconstruction Plan. After leaving the government, she started working in the private sector in 2002.

In 2015, Suzy Camelia-Römer took over the office of Minister for Traffic, Transport, Urban Development and Urban Planning in the government of Curaçao and held this position until 2017.
