Montigny-sur-Canne is located about 50 kilometers east-southeast of Nevers on the edge of the Morvan . Montigny-sur-Canne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Biches in the north, Limanton in the east and north-east, Isenay in the east and south-east, Saint-Gratien-Savigny in the south, Diennes-Aubigny in the west and south-west and Fertrève in the west and north-west.
