Mairie Achun

Achun is a French municipality with 162 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté . It belongs to the arrondissement of Château-Chinon (Ville) and to the Bazois Loire Morvan community association founded in 2016 . The residents call themselves Achunois .

geography

The municipality is located about 40 kilometers northeast of Nevers , immediately west of the Morvan Mountains. The Canal du Nivernais runs in the southwest of the municipality and uses the Alnain river valley here . In the wooded north of Achun ( Bois de la Dame, Les Closeaux ) lies the highest point in the municipality at 317 m above sea level. There are also contiguous forest areas in the east and south of the municipality of Achun ( Bois d'Achun, Bois Rouault ). The Achun municipality includes the villages of Achun, Fussilly and Chavance as well as the hamlets of Pain, Bussy, Le Coudray, Varigny, Roche and Le Petit Roche . Achun's neighboring municipalities are La Collancelle in the north, Sardy-lès-Épiry in the northeast, Aunay-en-Bazois in the east, Mont-et-Marré in the south and Bazolles in the west.

Place name

The place name developed from Scaduno (1130) via Eschaum (1266), Eschadunum (1270), Escadunum (1287), Aschung (1547), Aschuin (1614) and Achain (1767) to Achun (from 1793), which is still in use today .

There are no churches in Achun, the church of Saint-Étienne in the neighboring parish of Aunay-en-Bazois is responsible for the faithful .

Economy and Infrastructure

Eight farms (cattle, sheep and goat husbandry, grain cultivation) are located in the municipality of Achun.

Nine kilometers south of Achun, the D978 trunk road runs from Château-Chinon (Ville) to Nevers . In Nevers there is a connection to the A77 autoroute .
