geography

The municipality is located about 30 kilometers west of Autun in the Morvan Regional Nature Park not far from Mont Haut-Folin , the highest peak of the Morvan at 901 m . In the wooded south of the municipality is the summit of the Roche de Suize at 796 m and an unnamed 818 m high hilltop in the Bois de la Loge . Forests cover almost three quarters of the 13.88 km² municipal area. The eastern boundary of the municipality is formed by the upper Yonne - here still as a mountain stream. history

The municipality of Fâchin was created in 1870 from parts of the municipalities of Arleuf, Villapourçon and Château-Chinon (Campagne).

Between 1904 and 1931 Fâchin had a rail connection on one of the Tacot du Morvan lines from Autun to Château-Chinon (Ville) . The station was located in the hamlet of Le Châtelet on the Étang d'Yonne on the right bank of the Yonne, which already belongs to the municipality of Arleuf. In 1936 the track systems were dismantled.
