Chalaux is a French commune with a population of 86 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Nièvre in the region of Bourgogne Franche-Comté (before 2016 Burgundy ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Château-Chinon (Ville) and the canton of Corbigny (until 2015 Lormes ).

Chalaux is located about 70 kilometers northeast of Nevers in the Morvan on the Chalaux river . Chalaux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Marigny-l'Église in the north and east and Saint-Martin-du-Puy in the south and west.
