Robert II (Dreux)
Robert II the Younger (* 1154 ; † December 28, 1218 ) was Count von Dreux and Braine from 1188 .
Life
He was the son of Count Robert I and Agnes von Baudement , Countess von Braine, and thus a member of the House of France-Dreux .
Shortly after the death of his father and after he had assumed his inheritance, Robert broke up with an advance department for the Third Crusade (1189-1192). He took part in the siege of Acre (1189–1191) and the battle of Arsuf (1191). After his return to France he fought against the English (1195–1198). In 1210 he was the commander of the Albigensian Crusade and took part in the siege of Termez (August – November 1210). He supported his brother Philipp von Dreux , Bishop of Beauvais , in his fight against Rainald I von Dammartin , Count of Boulogne . At the Battle of Bouvines (1214) he commanded the left wing of the army of the French King Philip II Augustus .
Marriage and offspring
Robert II von Dreux's first marriage in 1178 was Mathilde von Burgund (* 1150, † 1192), daughter of Raimund von Burgund, Count of Grignon , and Agnes von Montpensier, before whom he separated in 1181; the marriage remained childless. In his second marriage he married Yolande von Coucy (* 1164, † 1222), daughter of Raoul I von Coucy from the house of Boves and Agnes von Hainaut in 1184 . Your children are:
