County Braine

The French county of Braine around the main town Braine-sur-Vesle in today's Aisne department was founded in the 11th century. It was under the influence of the Counts of Champagne .

Through marriage she came to the Capetian Counts of Dreux in the 12th century , to the House of Pierrepont in the 14th century , to the House of Commercy in the middle of the 15th century and finally to the House of La Marck in 1536 , whose line was in Braine in the second Died out in the middle of the 18th century.
