Johann II. (Dreux)

Johann II , called the Good ( le Bon ) (* 1265 ; † 1309 ), was a Count of Dreux , Montfort-l'Amaury and Braine and Lord of Montpensier . He was a son of Count Robert IV von Dreux and his wife, Beatrix von Montfort.

Johann took part in the Flanders War of King Philip IV of France . In the army of Count Robert II of Artois he was present in the conquests of Cassel and Béthune in 1297 , fought victoriously at Furnes (August 20) against a Flemish-German contingent under Wilhelm von Jülich and entered Lille (August 26) . On July 11, 1302, Johann fought in the devastating battle of the golden spurs near Kortrijk (Courtrai), but also in 1307 in the victorious battle of Mons-en-Pévèle . Subsequently participated in the peace negotiations.

After his death in 1309 he was buried in Longchamp Abbey .

In 1292 Johann married Johanna von Beaujeu († 1308), daughter and heiress of Humbert II von Beaujeu-Montpensier , through whom he inherited the dominion of Montpensier in 1303 . Your children were:
