Peter I (Dreux)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Peter I ( French: Pierre I , * 1298 - † November 3, 1345 ) was Count von Dreux , Lord of Montpensier , Aigueperse , Herment , Château-du-Loir , Saint-Valery , Gamaches , Ault , Dommart , from 1331 Bernarville and Saint-Maurice . He was the son of Johann II , Count von Dreux, and Jeanne de Beaujeu.

Life

As the younger son of Count von Dreux, he took part in the war of King Philip VI. of France against Flanders, which culminated in the Battle of Cassel (1328) . In 1329 he was promoted to Hereditary Count through the death of his eldest brother Robert V , and in 1331 he inherited through the death of his second brother Johann III. family property.

In 1341 he married Isabeau de Melun († 1389), mistress of Houdan , daughter of Johann I, Vice Count of Melun , and Isabeau d'Antoing. Her daughter is Johanna I (Jeanne I .; * 1345, † 1346), who inherited the County of Dreux as an infant, but died the following year.

The county of Dreux then went to Peter's sister Johanna II (* probably 1309, † around 1355), who married Ludwig von Thouars , whereby the Thouars house came into the possession of Dreux.
