Johann III. from Werder
Johann III. von Werder († July 24, 1466 ) was bishop of Merseburg from the beginning of October 1463 until his death in 1466 .
Life
Johann III. von Werder came from the noble family von Werder . He was dean from 1432 to 1450 and provost of the Merseburg cathedral chapter from 1450 .
There is an epitaph for Johann III under the organ loft of Merseburg Cathedral . with the depiction of his namesake John the Baptist in a short fur coat and with the Lamb of God on his arm, to which he points with his right index finger ( Joh 1,29 EU ). The epitaph was created around 1540 by the sculptor of the barrier reliefs of the Lindenau Chapel.
