Johann Jacob Hermannus

Johann (es) Jacob Hermann (us) (Hermanni) (* around 1553 in Strasbourg ; † 14 May 1630 in Dillenburg ) was a Reformed clergyman.

Hermannus attended high school and university in Strasbourg. 1575 cantor in Lohr / Mainz, 1576/77 parish clerk in Katzweiler / Pfalz, 1578 to 1582 teacher and deacon in Kandel / Pfalz, then court preacher in Durlach. From 1604 court preacher in Dillenburg , from where he worked in 1605 in the county of Sayn as a general visitator for the introduction of the Reformed Confession. At the same time from 1608 inspector and from 1609 professor for theology and history at the high school in Herborn. As a popular pulpit speaker at the court, Hermannus gave Count Johann VI. the funeral speech in the Dillenburg church. Even after his transfer to the Herborn town church and taking over the position of professor, Hermannus continued to hold the office of Dillenburg court preacher for many years. Hermannus became completely blind in 1617. In 1620 Johann Bernhard Gottsleben disputed with Hermannus .

Hermannus was married to Anna ... in his first marriage and to Barbara Textor (d. 1603; widowed Bernhard Textor ) in his second marriage .
