Johann Jakob Geelhausen

Johann Jakob Geelhausen (also Jan Jakub Gelhausen , born August 25, 1692 in Altenkirchen , † February 16, 1737 in Prague ) was a German physician and rector of the Charles University in Prague .

Life

Johann Jakob Geelhausen studied medicine and was awarded a Dr. phil. and Dr. med. received his doctorate and later worked as a professor at the medical faculty of Charles University from the beginning of the 1820s . On September 5, 1736, Geelhausen was appointed as the successor to Johann Seidel as rector of the University of Prague, but died a little later during his rectorate. The official business was then taken over by the Vice Rector Wenzel Xaver Neumann von Puchholz (1670–1743) until his appointment in 1738 by Johann Heilmann. On February 12, 1732 he became a foreign member of the Electoral Brandenburg Society of Sciences and on October 4, 1736 he was elected a member ( matriculation number 465 ) of the Leopoldina with the academic nickname Glauco II .
