Johann Karl Theodor von Brabeck

Johann Karl Theodor Freiherr von Brabeck , OSB (born July 19, 1738 in Hamm ; † October 25, 1794 ) was prince abbot and from 1792 prince-bishop of Corvey .

He came from the Westphalian noble family Brabeck . His father was Peter Franz Walter von Brabeck . The mother was Maria Ottilia (nee Schenck von Niddeg) . Brabeck entered the Corvey monastery and was ordained a priest in Hildesheim in 1762. In 1776 he became Abbot of Corvey. He worked towards the conversion of the abbey into a diocese in order to ensure its continued existence in the long term. This was achieved in 1792. He became the first prince-bishop of Corvey. He is buried in Corvey Abbey.
