Johann Konrad Vogel (born August 9, 1796 in Weihenzell in Middle Franconia , Bavaria ; † October 6, 1883 in Linz ) was an Austrian confectioner born in Bavaria and a poor father in Linz.

In 1822 he started to work for Katherina Kreß, a Linz confectioner widow. A year later, in 1823, the two married and Vogel took over the business.

He made the Linzer Torte world famous, as he introduced it to his shop and managed to make it a well-known and popular Linz souvenir.

Since he made great contributions to poor relief and administration, he was elected poor father by the Linz magistrate in 1826. In this role he worked for 50 years. He founded an association to care for old citizens and citizen widows as well as an association to support Linz servants.

In 1834 he was appointed church leader of the evangelical community in Linz and got involved in the construction of an evangelical church and a schoolhouse. (Today's Martin Luther Church , built from 1842 to 1844 according to plans by Johann Rueff ).

Johann-Konrad-Vogel-Strasse in Linz was named after the honorary citizen of Linz and presbyter of the Protestant parish in 1876. This is a connection between Landstrasse and Dametzstrasse / Hessenplatz. (At that time streets and squares were named after people who were still alive).
