Johann Mangès

Johann Baptist Mangès (born January 30, 1836 in Bitsch ; † May 12, 1918 in Metz ) was a Catholic clergyman and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Mangès attended high school in Bitsch and studied philosophy and theology in the seminary in Metz . Then he was chaplain in Saargemünd from 1866 to 1869 and pastor in Mutterhausen from 1869 to 1873. He was then pastor in Walschbronn until 1888 and since then city pastor and honorary canon in Saargemünd.

From 1890 to 1893 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Reichsland Elsaß-Lothringen 12 ( Saargemünd , Forbach ). He was a member of the Alsace-Lorraine Protest Party.
