Johann Modler

Johann Modler (born January 2, 1875 in Landeshut ; † March 4, 1964 in Aschaffenburg ) was a German inventor and entrepreneur .

Life

After studying at the Polytechnic in Leipzig, he joined the Fichtel & Sachs company in Schweinfurt in 1903 as an engineer . There he developed the torpedo freewheel hub . This invention contributed significantly to the rise of the Fichtel & Sachs company. However, the patent was registered for the company.

In 1906 Johann Modler switched to the FAG Kugelfischer company in Schweinfurt . There he invented the barrel roller bearing in 1912 (DRP No. 290 038 of February 16, 1912). In 1921 Johann Modler went into business for himself and acquired the Aschaffenburg machine factory Friedrich Klug. This company still exists as Johann Modler GmbH in Aschaffenburg .
