from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Morhard (also: Morhart) (born September 3, 1554 in Tübingen ; † March 10, 1631 in Hall ) was a town doctor from Schwäbisch Hall . In his house chronicle, which is now available in edited form, he gives an insight into the social, family and religious life of the early modern period.

Youth and Studies

Morhard came from a family of printers in Tübingen. His grandfather, Ulrich Morhard the Elder , was involved in the dissemination of Protestant literature at the time of the Württemberg reform. After the grandfather's death, the printing works fell out of the family's possession, so that they became impoverished.
