Johann Pehm

Johann Pehm (born August 9, 1898 in Neudörfl ; † July 3, 1961 there ) was an Austrian master blacksmith and politician ( ÖVP ). Pehm was married, a member of the Federal Council and a member of the Burgenland Landtag .

Pehm was born as the son of master blacksmith Johann Pehm from Neudörfl and attended trade and trade school after elementary school. He subsequently worked as a master blacksmith and went into business for himself in 1929. Before 1938 and between 1947 and 1960 he was the state's guild master for the forge and between 1950 and 1955 he was the deputy guild master of the federal guild of the forge.

Pehm became involved in the Christian Social Party and represented it in the state parliament between June 23, 1932 and October 31, 1934, after he had replaced Anton Schreiner . During the Austro-Fascist era , Pehm was mayor of Neudörfl from 1934 to 1938 and was deposed by the National Socialists after the “Anschluss”. After the end of the Second World War he switched to the newly founded ÖVP and was a member of the Federal Council from May 3, 1947 to November 8, 1949. Pehm was also chairman of the trade section in the Burgenland Chamber of Commerce from 1947 to 1955.
