Johann Pregesbauer (born June 8, 1958 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian football player on the position of defender .

Career

Left-back Pregesbauer made his Bundesliga debut as a 16-year-old on May 30, 1975 in a 1-1 draw against Admira / Wacker as a substitute for the Rapid Vienna team . In the following season he was already eight times in the starting line-up of Rapid and came to a total of nine Bundesliga games. In the first cup final against Wacker Innsbruck , he scored the important away goal to 1: 2 with a long-range shot and thus played a major role in later winning the title. Subsequently, Pregesbauer belonged to the regular SK Rapid formation for around a decade and was crowned champion with Rapid in 1982 and 1983. In addition, he won the Austrian Cup in 1983, 1984 and 1985 with Rapid after 1976 and was part of the team that reached the final of the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1985, although he himself was not there.

In the national team Pregesbauer made his debut on June 4, 1980 in a 1-1 draw against Hungary , a total of nine appearances in the national team. In 1982 he took part with the Austrian national team at the World Cup in Spain , where he was used in the 2-2 draw against Northern Ireland in the second round. From 1975 to 1986, Pregesbauer played a total of 348 competition games for Rapid and is thus in tenth place in the all-time ranking.

After his active career, Pregesbauer became a real estate agent.
