Johann Rudolf von Frisching

Johann Rudolf von Frisching (born August 17, 1761 in Bern ; † August 5, 1838 there ) was a Swiss politician of the Helvetic Republic and an officer.

Life

Johann Rudolf was a son of Franz Rudolf Frisching from the Frisching patrician family and Anne Madeleine, née van Back from Holland († 1763). Like his father, he first served in the Dutch Swiss Guard . After he returned to Bern in 1795, he became a member of the Bern Grand Council . In the Helvetic Republic he was elected to the Senate in 1801, from November 23, 1801 to January 23, 1802 he was second Landammann and from January 23 to April 17, 1802 he was a member of the Small Council. In 1803 he was again elected to the Grand Council. By marrying Elisabeth Sophie von Frisching (von Rümligen) (1773-1813) Frisching came into the possession of the Rümligen Castle and the Frischinghaus in Bern. After his death, the property fell to his daughter Sophie Rosine von Frisching and her husband Friedrich Ludwig von Wattenwyl.
