Franz Rudolf Frisching (* 1733 in Bern ; † 1807 in Hofstetten ) was a Bernese officer, magistrate and industrialist from the Frisching patrician family .

Life

Franz Rudolf Frisching was the son of Vinzenz Frisching (1689–1764), Lord of Schlosswil , Schultheiss of Thun and captain in the Piedmontese service, and Juliana Rosina von Erlach . Frisching was a colonel in the Swiss Guard in Holland . From 1764 he was a member of the Bernese Grand Council . In 1770 he became bailiff in the Maggia valley , in 1780 bailiff in St. Johannsen and in 1793 Kastlan in Wimmis . Frisching was a lieutenant colonel in the Jägerkorps of Bern .

Frisching was co-founder and main owner of the Faience Manufactory Frisching in Lorraine in Bern.

Between 1753 and 1754, Franz Rudolf Frisching married Anne Madeleine van Back (born approx. 1738), who came from Holland, daughter of Johannes van Back, governor of Orange , and Anna Henriette van Schinnen. From this marriage came the son Johann Rudolf and the daughter Anna Adrienne Margarethe (1755-1800). Anne Madeleine Frisching died on August 4, 1763 in childbed in the Église royale et Collégiale Saint-Hippolyte de Poligny . The funeral took place on August 8, 1763 in the church of Les Verrières . In his second marriage, Franz Rudolf Frisching was married to Armanda Gross (1743–1829), daughter of Karl Ludwig Gross and Armanda Wurstemberger, from September 7, 1764. The marriage was later divorced. This second marriage came from the daughters Maria Emilie (January 17 to February 27, 1767) and the daughter Julia Armanda (1768–1807).

From 1750 to 1777 the Frisching family owned the Lorraine estate in Bern. After the French invasion in 1798, Franz Rudolf Frisching did not have to pay any war contribution.
