Johann Westermann (poet)
Johann Westermann (* 1741 in Hofgeismar ; † 1784 in Bremen ) was a German poet of Baroque .
Life
He was the son of a Reformed pastor . Johann Westermann studied theology in Marburg . Afterwards he was the school director in Leer in East Frisia for some time . He came to Bremen as a candidate for the reformed church and school authorities of the spiritual ministry . In 1765, the poet published in his collection The Very New Sonnets as the first lyric poet since the Baroque era to re- publish sonnets in traditional Alexandrians . Johann Westermann died in Bremen in 1784.
