Johann von Kerssenbrock (Knight)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann von Kerssenbrock (* in the 13th century; † in the 14th century) was a castle man and knight of Ravensberg near Bielefeld .

Life

Johann von Kerssenbrock came from the East Westphalian noble family Kerssenbrock , which in the 13th century worked essentially with the Counts of Ravensberg . The sources do not provide any information about his life. He appeared as a witness in the notarizations of November 14, 1266, November 17, 1285, July 25, 1298 and December 19, 1300. His name is there in the years 1266, 1298 and 1300 as Johannes de Kersebroke written in 1285 as John Kersenbrock . As Judith Oliver suspects, it could therefore be different people, especially since it is reported that a Johann de Kersebroke died on Nov. 10, 1285.

In 1285 a donation from Count Otto III. von Ravensberg (* 1249; † 1306, a brother of Ludwig von Ravensberg, the bishop of Osnabrück) to the Rulle monastery near Osnabrück , where a Gisela von Kerssenbrock lived as a nun. The exact relationship between Gisela and Johannes is not known.
